Detection
Alta VMS turns activity into events you can review and alert on. Detection comes from two sources.
Motion
Section titled “Motion”The motion worker reconciles each recording camera on a short interval and raises motion events. Motion events feed the Events view and can trigger alerts.
Object recognition
Section titled “Object recognition”An optional external object-recognition service can post detection webhooks to Alta VMS (for example “person” or “vehicle” detections). These are persisted as events alongside motion, with the same filtering and alerting.
Detection settings
Section titled “Detection settings”Configure detection behaviour under Settings → Detection. Recording must be enabled on a camera for motion-based detection to apply to it.
