Detection
Alta VMS turns activity into events you can review and alert on. Events come from two sources, and both land on the Events page with the same filtering, lifecycle (acknowledge and resolve), and alerting. Server-level events, such as Alta server availability and configuration drift, are visible to admins only.
Motion
Section titled “Motion”The motion worker reconciles each recording camera on a short interval and raises motion events automatically — there is nothing to configure per camera beyond enabling recording. Recording must be enabled on a camera for motion events to be raised for it.
Object recognition
Section titled “Object recognition”An optional external object-recognition service can post recognition events to Alta VMS (for example “person” or “vehicle” detections) over a dedicated authenticated endpoint. These are persisted as events alongside motion. The endpoint is only enabled when an OAuth2 secret is configured — see Configuration Reference (auth.oauth2_secret).
