Groups

Groups let you organize cameras (by site, floor, or function) and control who can see them.

Create a group

On the Groups page create a group and add cameras to it. A camera can belong to multiple groups.

Per-group roles

Within a group you can grant users one of two roles:

Role	Can do
Operator	View live and archive; export clips and screenshots; control PTZ; manage camera IO triggers; toggle recording; acknowledge events; manage maps; add or remove Viewers in the group
Viewer	View live and archive; browse events, clips, and screenshots for the group’s cameras

Global admins always have full access regardless of group membership. Use groups to give non-admins access to just the cameras they need.

Note

Maps require map-management permission: admins and Operators can open the Maps section; Viewers do not see it at all.

Access scope

For non-admins, group membership is a hard boundary. Cameras outside a user’s groups are absent from every list — cameras, events, clips, screenshots, and the live wall — and are inaccessible directly: a direct link behaves as not found. The same boundary applies to live and archive streaming, PTZ, and IO control.

Group live view

Each group has its own live wall — open it to monitor only that group’s cameras, with the same grid layouts and controls as the main Live View. An Edit button on the live wall opens the group’s settings; it appears only for users with group-update permission.
