User Guide

The Alta VMS web interface is organized into a few areas, reachable from the left sidebar:

Area	What it does
Live View	Multi-camera video wall for real-time monitoring
Cameras	Add and manage individual cameras
Groups	Organize cameras and delegate access
Maps	Place cameras on floor plans
Investigate	Review events, clips, and screenshots
Logs	Audit and system logs
Settings	Alta servers, storages, users, detection, notifications

First steps

After installing and logging in, bring your cameras online in this order:

1. Connect an Alta server — Settings → Connection.
2. Add cameras from that server’s receivers.
3. Organize them into groups (optional) and grant access.
4. Open Live View to watch them.
5. Set up alerts so you’re notified when something changes.
